Two Tom Holland blockbusters. GTA 6 pre-order frenzy. PS5 prices climbing. A new Spider-Man trilogy beginning. Christopher Nolan’s most ambitious film shot entirely on IMAX. And all of it landing within 31 days.
July 2026 is not a normal month for entertainment. For Pakistani gamers and moviegoers, it may be the most expensive — and most exciting — month in a decade.
Week 1–2: The Odyssey (July 17)
Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s Odyssey releases July 17, starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron. It is the first feature film shot entirely on 70mm IMAX — every single frame.
For Pakistani cinemagoers, IMAX screenings in Lahore and Karachi will be the premium experience. Standard tickets will run Rs1,000-1,200. IMAX tickets will hit Rs1,800-2,200. Given that Nolan’s previous film was Oppenheimer — which won seven Oscars — his claim that this is his most ambitious project carries genuine weight.
Week 4–5: Spider-Man Brand New Day (July 31)
Marvel’s official Spider-Man: Brand New Day page confirms July 31, 2026 as the global release date. The film is positioned as the start of a new trilogy for Peter Parker — whether it sidesteps the multiverse or connects to Avengers: Doomsday is the fan debate of the summer.
The cast alone justifies the ticket price: Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Michael Mando’s Scorpion, and a mystery villain no one can see. Rotten Tomatoes’ Brand New Day coverage confirms the Hand organisation — ninja assassins previously featured in Netflix Marvel series — also appear.
Pakistani Marvel fans who grew up watching Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man on Geo TV are about to see the most stacked Spider-Man cast in MCU history. Details on what Pakistani fans need to know are in our full Spider-Man Brand New Day breakdown.
The GTA 6 Pre-Order Window Is Open — November Is Coming
GTA 6 pre-orders opened June 25 at $79.99 standard and $99.99 ultimate. The game launches November 19. But the effects are already hitting Pakistan now.
PS5 stock is being reserved by importers who know demand will spike. Retailers have opened GTA 6 pre-order listings. Pakistani gaming communities on Facebook and Discord are debating Standard vs Ultimate — or waiting for PC. The GTA 6 physical copy controversy — a box with a download code instead of a disc — makes the decision harder for gamers with slow internet. A 150GB download on a 10 Mbps connection takes roughly 33 hours. On a 4 Mbps connection — common in tier-2 Pakistani cities — it takes over 80 hours.
What Pakistani Wallets Need to Prepare For
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| The Odyssey IMAX ticket | Rs1,800-2,200 |
| Spider-Man Brand New Day IMAX ticket | Rs1,800-2,200 |
| PS5 console (if buying for GTA 6) | Rs225,000-280,000 |
| GTA 6 pre-order (Standard Edition) | Rs35,000-40,000 |
| Internet for 150GB download | Variable |
| Total (all in) | Rs265,000+ |
That is an extraordinary amount by Pakistani standards. The median household income is under Rs80,000 per month. These are luxury expenses in a country where petrol just dropped to Rs299 and gold crashed Rs36,000 per tola. But entertainment has always been about choices. The PS5 price spike expected when GTA 6 launches means delay is expensive.
The Rational Plan for Pakistani Entertainment Budgets
If you can afford one thing: Buy the PS5 now before prices spike. See one film in IMAX. Pre-order GTA 6 digitally to avoid the empty-box physical copy problem.
If you cannot: Watch both films in standard format at Rs800-1,200 each. Wait for GTA 6 on PC in late 2027 or early 2028 — fully patched, cheaper hardware, and likely the definitive version of the game. GTA V’s PC release in April 2015 became the definitive version of a game that launched on consoles in September 2013. The same pattern is likely for Grand Theft Auto VI.
July is spectacular. Enjoy it within your means.
